The nation’s largest Gas utility GAIL(Gas Authority of India Limited) posted a consolidated net profit of RS 3250.95 crore in April-June 2022 as compared to April-June 2021, the profit was RS 2175.5 crore. GAIL contributes more than 53% sold natural gas in India . Gail also contributes 3/4rth of the total natural gas pipelines in India. It also Produces 33rd LPG cylinder sold in India and operates 54% of India’s CNG stations and the financial capital distribution of GAIL in FY 2021-2022 was as (1,274 crore – Spent on share buy-back),(2,238 crore-Paid as dividend), (45.8%- Dividend pay out), (7,967crore- Contribution to the exchequer). The interlinkages of GAIL with other capital are (Manufactured capital – 7000 crore capex), (Natural capital-65 crore spend on energy management initiatives), (Intellectual capital – 20.12 crore spent on R&D), (Social relationship capital- 147.67 crore spent towards CSR), (Human capital-1,531crore employee remuneration & benefits).The company has expanded the network of natural gas pipe lines to 14,500km across length & breath of our country . The average gas transmission through this network during FY 2021-22 was 110.98 MMSCMD(Million Metric Standard Cubic Meter per day) and 104.20MMSCMD in the previous financial year. The share in country’s Natural Gas Transmission is 68%. Revenue from operations from Natural Gas Transmission in FY 2021-22 was 6,392 crore as against 5,952 crore in FY 2020-21. GAIL’s margin jumps to 87.5% from Q1 2021 to Q1 2022.
This data shows that the maximum profit earned by the GAIL is in the revenue from operation sector and in cost of sales sector . GAIL may earn more profit in FY 2023 by increasing the cost of sale and revenue from operations.
