Background:

The Petitioner, a subsidiary of Tata Power Company Ltd (TPCL), has set up a 4000 MW Mundra UMPP in the State of Gujarat, based on imported coal, after TPCL was selected as the successful bidder through tariff-based competitive bidding carried out in accordance with Section 63 of the Electricity Act, 2003.
