The amendments introduce an expanded regulatory framework to integrate energy storage systems—particularly battery-based storage—within existing coal, lignite, gas-based generating stations and inter-state transmission systems. First, Regulation 2 is revised to explicitly bring integrated energy storage systems (IESS) under the scope of tariff determination by the Commission for stations governed by Section 62 read with Section 79 of the Electricity Act.
