Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GUVNL) has issued India’s largest standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) tender under the new Viability Gap Funding (VGF) regime. The Phase-7 tender aims to develop 2000 MW/4000 MWh of BESS capacity under a 12-year Build, Own, Operate (BOO) model. It offers a VGF of ₹18 lakh/MWh, disbursed in phases—20% on financial closure, 50% at commissioning, and 30% after one year of COD.
