India’s renewable energy sector has witnessed remarkable growth, reaching a cumulative installed renewable energy (RE) capacity of 282.75 GW as of 31 May 2026, including large hydro projects. Excluding large hydro, renewable capacity stands at 230.78 GW. Solar power continues to dominate the renewable landscape with more than 157 GW of installed capacity, followed by wind energy at 56.
