MERC: Petition of RCFL v/s MEDA seeking exemption from Renewable Purchase Obligation

Background: Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (RCFL) has filed present Petition on 24 February 2025 under Section 86 (1)(e) of the Electricity Act, 2003, Regulations 16 and 19 of the MERC (Renewable Purchase Obligation, its Compliance and Implementation of Renewable Energy Certificate Framework) Regulations, 2016 and 2019 (RPO Regulations 2016/2019) seeking a declaration that RCFL is exempted from the RPO targets in relation to its Thal & Trombay Units form the date of commissioning of the gas based captive-cum-cogeneration power Plant.
