NTPC has issued a global Expression of Interest (EOI) for the development of pilot and utility-scale compressed-air energy storage (CAES) projects, including liquid air energy storage and other advanced compressed air-based long-duration energy storage (LDES) technologies. The EOI targets systems capable of storing energy for eight or more hours, with air compression achievable through conventional compressors or alternative systems such as liquid pistons.
