The Ministry of Power (MoP) clarified that ongoing government schemes like the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana will not require new energy storage system (ESS) mandates. The ESS co-location requirement applies only to future solar tenders, not past commitments. This follows an advisory from the Central Electricity Regulatory Authority (CEA) recommending that future tenders include a 2-hour, 10% ESS co-location for grid stability and peak demand support.
