MNRE: Issues New GHG Guidelines for Green Hydrogen Water Use and Treatment with Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has released new guidelines under the Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme of India (GHCI) to standardize the measurement of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with off-site water sourcing and treatment for green hydrogen production. Issued on June 18, 2026, the framework aligns with the international ISO 19870:2023 standard and aims to ensure transparent and consistent carbon intensity calculations within the “Well-to-Gate” boundary of hydrogen production.
