The Ministry of Power has proposed draft amendments to Rule 18 of the Electricity Rules, 2005, concerning Energy Storage Systems (ESS), and invites comments by 10th July 2025. The revised rules now formally recognize “consumers” as eligible owners and operators of ESS, alongside existing entities like Gencos, Discoms, and system operators.
