Background: Petition under Section 86 (1) (k) of the Electricity Act, 2003 read with Regulations 13 and 14 of the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (Merit Order Despatch and Optimization of Power Purchase) Regulations, 2021 read with Regulations 57 and 59 of the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (Conduct of Business) Regulations, 2019 seeking removal of difficulty arising due to an existing contradiction between the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Indian Electricity Grid Code) Regulations, 2023 and the regulations of this Hon'ble Commission, which is resulting in hindrance with the compliance of mandate prescribed by the Electricity (Late Payment Surcharge and Related Matters) (Amendment) Rules, 2024.
